Fed has a 20-2 lead in the head to head with Roddick’s last win coming back in 2008.

Although now 29 years old, and having fallen out of the top 20 for the first time in almost 10 years, Andy Roddick remains a formidable opponent, particularly on the home hard courts of Flushing Meadows.
The head to head favours Rafa 6-3, but this will be a very tough challenge for the World Number Two. I pick Nadal in four, and a lot of nerves and great tennis along the way.

Nadal vs Federer (Head to Head 14-8)
Singles ranking in brackets, Head to head with Nadal or Federer
The main early obstacle for Nadal seems to be the third round where he will face the winner of Marin Cilic or John Isner. Cilic beat Rafa in their only previous meeting.
Federer’s second round match will be a tough one on paper – Gilles Simon beat him in their only earlier encounters, though his form in recent months has not been so predictable.
After that, the semis will probably be where the real work kicks in. Rafa should (on paper) meet Soderling or Murray – two of the best players on hard court over recent years. Federer against Djokovic will also be fascinating.
Let the action begin – and begin it will on Monday 17th January when Roger Federer will play his first round match. He is third on the Rod Laver court, so will probably come on some time after 2pm local time, 1am GMT. Rafael Nadal will have to wait until Tuesday 18th January.

Match over – Federer won 6-2, 6-4 and will play Djokovic in the Basel tournament final

Roger Federer will play old time foe Andy Roddick in Saturday’s second semifinal. The first semifinal features an all-Serbian match up between Novak Djokovic and Viktor Troicki. That match starts at 2:30pm local time, and Federer’s match will start when it is finished.
Federer has a daunting 19-2 lead over Roddick in the head to head, and the American has to look back to 2008 for inspiration when he beat the World Number Two in Miami.

Two of the three highest ranking players remaining face off as the world number four (for now – he’ll go to three on Monday) and seven battle for a final spot.
Nadal and Roddick have a head to head of 5 to 2 in favour of the Spaniard – Rafa won the last three and the way he swept Tsonga off the court, to my mind he is back near his very best and a clear favourite to take out this title

Roger Federer will play Andy Roddick today, in what could be an absolutely historic day. If he wins, Federer will:
- Overtake Pete Sampras’s all-time mark of 14 Grand Slams
- Regain from Rafael Nadal the ATP Number One position
But Andy (not the Andy we had expected!) will have other plans -this will be no cakewalk for Federer. My prediction is that Roger’s sharp form of late will be good enough to overpower the American, and that he will win in straight sets.

Option 2: Wimbledon Live TV – English – recommended
Federer had a easy win over James Blake, 6-2, 6-4 and Nadal had an even easier march into the quarterfinals after Philipp Kohlschreiber withdrew through injury.
Here is today’s schedule.
Roger Federer will play American Andy Roddick in his toughest match to date in this tourney. Andy is hardly strong on clay court, but is in good form, and seems to find the Madrid surface to his liking. My pick though is that Roger will go through in two close fought sets.
Rafael Nadal will come up against fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco and we can expect Rafael will have to work a little harder for this one. Still, given his form of late, I cannot see Fer pulling off any upset today, and again expect a win in two good sets of tennis.
