The event is emblematic. In 2008, it is M6 that has won the best hearing of the year with 13.2 million viewers the retransmission of the France-Italy of the Euro 2008 match. The chain led by Nicolas de Tavernost has not only because its entry in the Top 100 annual hearings, but it has also been TF1 in the first place.
Of course, it is a decisive match for the qualification of the team of football in quarter-finals France. This manifestation however demonstrates the woes of the first string in 2008.

In a year, the saw its share of hearing reduced from 30.7 to 27.2 according to Médiamétrie, is 3.5 points of hearing loss. It is the one that has suffered most from the rise of digital terrestrial television (DTT) channels free.
With cable and satellite channels, they now represent nearly one quarter of the hearing of the television (23.7), compared to 17.5 a year (see below).
New competition
All radio channels are affected by this new and dynamic competition. This provided that the average time spent by the French to watch television decreased by 3 minutes in 2008, back to its level of two years, or 3 pm daily for 4 years and more.
The leader in this case the A is the most attacked. In December, the audience share of the first string is even located at 26.2, i.e. 1 point less than the annual average. Highly symbolic act, TF1, who regularly won between 90 and 100 of the best 100 hearings of the year, decided not to disclose this year on its performance.
Other national chains are more resistant to competition but are nonetheless affected. France 2 sees its share of hearing back from 18.1 to 17.5, while that of France 3 pass from 14.1 to 13.3. M6 loses 0.5 point per year which brings back its audience share to 11 in 2008.
If the strings in the TNT browsed upon the land of the large national chains, the power of the latter remains unmatched. Thus, TF1 would have still made 18 of the 20 best hearings of the year with peaks at more than 10.5 million viewers.
The honour comedies
Like M6 which, this year, made four of its best performance with matches of the Euro, the most watched program on the was meeting Netherlands-France, which attracted nearly 12.7 million viewers.
But popular comedies are also always recipe on the air: "Les Bronzés 3." "Friends for life" was watched by more than 11.2 million people, and "Les Bronzés make skiing" by 10.5 million viewers.
France 2 also realized its better hearing with a French comedy, "Camping". Best hearings of the public service channels, include a play, the television movies and series and the magazine "roots and wings" released on France 3.
A taste of the diversity of programming provided for in the specifications of France television.
Trends this year could continue in 2009. DTT channels should continue to win the hearing next year. However nobody dares predict what will be the evolution of the hearing of TF1 and M6 shares, which have already begun to suffer on the advertising plan.
